Sandrine Lescaroux, Managing Director of French Business Council Qatar, has paid her gratitude to French golfers, French community members, guests, sponsors and partners for making the first Golf Cup organised by the Council a success.

Members of the French community in Qatar arrived early in the morning on Doha Golf Club course on last Saturday. The participants enjoyed the thrill of the competition while others were happy meeting each other.

With golfing action for almost four hours on the green with Lusail Towers in sight, the teams’ fate was sealed. Vincenzo Calla, Yumiko Calla, Christian Longis, and Cyrille Cambriani were declared the best team of the tournament.

Bertrand Dumoulin, Laurent Constanty, Pontius Hutapea, and Mohamed Bribi won the second Best Nett. The highest score winners were Fabian A.Wendlinger and Singh Vinod. The lowest gross winners were Jae Hyung Choi, Tae Young Han, Andre Marble, and Pierre-Louis Dehaene.

BNP-Paribas was the sponsor of the 1st Golf Cup organised by French Business Council and the partners included W Doha, L’Occitane, Monoprix, Technogym, and Sisley SPA.

Sandrine Lescaroux paid her special thanks to Russel from Doha Golf Club and the Intercontinental team for the lovely Picnic Brunch shared by the French families and guests after the game.

Sandrine Lescaroux told Qatar Tribune that the next edition will include more players and is slated for Spring 2022.

Pakistani community, one of the oldest serving community in Qatar celebrated kick off of FIFA Arab Cup 2021 in Qatar. Representatives of various community forums gathered at the Pistachio Restaurant Doha to show it's solidarity and support to the people of brotherly host country.

16 teams from the Arabic speaking states, divided into four groups are taking part in the tournament.

State of the art AlBait stadium in city of AlKhor, venue of opening celebrations of FIFA World Cup 2022 was inaugurated from the first match between Qatar and Bahrain by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of State of Qatar.

Qatar defeated Bahrain by one goal in the first match of FIFA Arab Cup 2021.

Cake cutting ceremony at the Pakistani community’s event was organised by prominent journalist and social worker Ashraf Siddiqui; Nawar Khan, Chairman Pakistani Community Qatar; Qaiser Khan, General Secretary, Pakistan Welfare Forum; and Engineer Anwar Shah, Area 12 Director, Dist 116 Toastmasters International.

Among other prominent community members present were members of business community; Adeel Akbar, Secretary General, Pakistan Arts Society; Ikram Butt, President Pakistan Overseas Committee (Qatar Chapter); Tahir Jamil, former President Pakistan Engineers Forum; Mohammad Ajmal, founder member Pakistan Welfare Forum; renowned artist singer Jamshed Bajwa; Akram Bangash, Education Secretary, Qatar Pakhtoon Community, and guests

Ashraf Siddiqui, on behalf of all present on the occasion thanked community members taking part as volunteers, those participating  in Fan Zones activities, attending various training and awareness programs being organised by Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of their participation, passion, dedication and to be part of host country's healthy activities.

He stressed mainly on Pakistani youth living in Qatar to follow the footsteps and join more and more in various activities chalked out by the sports organizations in Qatar..

He said that although community artists have been regularly participating in fan zone activities organised by Outreaching Department of Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in every international and local major tournaments, however, talents in entertainment field from Pakistani community are welcomed to come forward and join the team to contribute the best performances from our side.

A number of proposals were discussed on the occasion to make Pakistani community’s contributions colourful and meaningful in the forthcoming world’s top event of FIFA World Cup 2022 being hosted by Qatar.

Siddiqui said we are lucky to be part of Qatar society where the country is hosting world mega sport event. Pakistani community serving in Qatar over long 70 years and has tremendous contributions in the development of Qatar got once again an opportunity to be part of this historical event  for the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

He said that today’s Cake Cutting ceremony celebrating hosting of FIFA Arab Cup 2021 in Qatar is a manifestation from Pakistani community to show our solidarity and full support to the brotherly people of Qatar and the Organizers of the forthcoming first ever mega sport of FIFA World Cup 2022  in Islamic World and the MENA region.
