FIFA Cup 2022: 'Security Last Mile Conf' Boosted Confidence Among Participating Countries

The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in his recent speech at the inauguraal ceremony of World Economic Forum in Davos, assured that 2022 FIFA World Cup ' will be a special one. We believe that sport is a tool, for positive change, promotes tolerance and respect,  empowers youth,  and inspired unity'.

HH The Amir said, ' We stand by that belief , and I hope you will join us to discover the beautiful game, as it is played in our country'.

HH The Amir told the World Economic Forum that ' our common interest, our common responsibility, and the common destiny of all humanity, requires partnership, so that all of us,  can live in peace'.

H. E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister, Interior Minister of State of Qatar and Chairman of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, opened recently the FIFA World Cup Security Last Mile Conference.

Present on the occasion at the extremely successful conference were ministers, dignitories, ambassadors, more than 40 delegations from the participating countries of FIFA World Cup 2022 and international security institutions.

The conference sent a loud message around the world about Qatar's readiness to host a safe and secure mega world event.

Editor, www.asiantelegraphqatar.com talked to some of the delegates on how they see the  forthcoming event's preparations.

H. E. Alfonso Zegbe, Special Envoy of Mexico for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Head of Strategy and Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico said that the World Cup 2022 is very important for us as we will be one of the biggest crowd of fans at the world cup wearing green T-shirts, carrying national flag and in different traditional colourfull dresses.

He said, Moreocer, Mexico is also one of the host countries along with the US and Canada of 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He said that Mexico has rich experience in organizing the mega event since it has hosted 1970 and 1986 World Cups.

The Mexican Special Envoy said that the 2022 World Cup is an opportunity in a way to create an awareness and to learn about each others cultures, traditions and local customs, and to enjoy a nice, secure and safe stay  in one of the world's safest environment of Qatar.

The Security Last Mile Conference, he said was very important for Qatar to showcase to the participting delegates the wonderfull people of Qatar and a country of traditions in the Arabian Gulf, a country with rich experience in holding major regional and international sports events and now ready to host mega FIFA World Cup for the very first time in the Middle East.

Valdecy Urquuza, Interpol Vice President for Americas, who has experience of managing the international police cooperation for the World Cup Brazil 2014.

He said that Interpol is the main global hub for the world international police cooperation, a platform of 195 member countries.

Interpol is able to connect mega event host country with other member countries, supports local agencies in providing data base facility that can provide intelligence and tools to mitigate any security risk for holding safe and secure tournament.

He said since World Cup Brazil 2014,  he has been working closely with colleagues in Qatar and has seen the state of the art infrastructure for the World Cup security.

Urquiza said that Qatar has developed an outstandimg  framework for international police cooperation,  Establishing of International Police Cooperation Center has been announced during the Security Last Mile Cooference, which is probably one of the best ones ever he has seen in any major sport event.

He said there is a strong cooperation from the participating countries and also strong cooperation from Interpol. However, for a mega event like of FIFA Wirld Cup,  there is always a collective aporoach and Qatar has done a wonderful job in engaging other countries. 'From what we have seen during the conference that in all respect, it is not only that the world cup will be very safe and secure, but they are going to leave a kegacy for future host countries to adopt the same framework'.

Interpol participating official said that he has seen the presentations and Qatar is absolutely ready to host the event, which will be enjoyed by each and everyone.
