At a recent event organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) Qatar Chapter, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the State of Qatar, Muhammad Aamer, underscored the vital role of community identity and mutual support for overseas professionals. In his address at the ‘President Meet up and Recognition Ceremony,’ he encouraged the ICAP members to persist in their efforts to represent Pakistan’s high standards of excellence on the international stage. The ceremony, which celebrated professional achievement and enduring commitment, was held on last Sunday at the auditorium of the Embassy of Pakistan and featured a key awareness session on the new IFRS 18 standards, highlighting the institute's dedication to ongoing professional development.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including ICAP President Saif Ullah FCA; Chairman of the Overseas Coordination Committee Muhammad Ali Latif; FCA; Usman Anwar, Chairman of the ICAP Qatar Chapter; Muhammad Israr Malazai, President of Pakistan Business Council Qatar (PBCQ); Past President PBCQ Fawad Rana; Pakistan embassy officials; members of the ICAP Qatar managing committee; and numerous Qatar based ICAP members.
In his welcoming remarks, the Chairman of the ICAP Qatar Chapter, Usman Anwar, emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration among Pakistani professionals and the wider business community within Qatar.
ICAP President Saif Ullah, FCA, who had travelled specifically from Pakistan for the occasion, outlined several of the institute's key accomplishments and strategic advances. He pointed to the significant enrollment of 40% female students as a clear marker of ICAP's commitment to diversity and inclusion. He also provided updates on the expansion of ICAP facilities to better serve its growing community and discussed initiatives aimed at broadening international affiliations to strengthen its global presence and contributions.
Muhammad Ali Latif, FCA, Chairman of the Overseas Coordination Committee for ICAP, shared an inspiring and forward-looking vision for the institute's international chapters, focusing on the core principles of innovation, collaboration, and strategic growth.
Representatives from the Pakistan Business Council Qatar, President Muhammad Israr Malazai and Past President Fawad Rana, also addressed the audience, sharing their vision for increased collaboration between Pakistani professionals and the business community in Qatar.
The ceremony culminated in a recognition segment, where numerous members were honored for their dedication, integrity, and professional impact. This segment not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also reinforced ICAP's overarching mission to uphold the highest standards of excellence and cultivate a robust global network of accounting professionals.
Among the recipients of recognition shields included Ejaz Ahmed Magoon (Gold Award); Muhammad Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Ali Dada, Usman Anwar, Mehmood Aziz, Haroon Ahmed, Muhammad Imran Siddiqui, Iftikhar Ahmed, Muhammad Usman Aleem, Assad Abbas Khan, Muhammad Shahid Razzaq, Nabeel Ahmad, Rahat Hussain, Khawaja Ali Usman, Touseef Iqbal Sethi, Muhammad Duraiz Khan, Aman Ullah Khan, Aisha Fazal, Muhammad Farrukh, Naeem Ahmed Khan, Syed Yousuf Hasan and Maaz Rafiq Butt (Bronze members) for being members over 15 years.
The ICAP Qatar Chapter, which currently has 100 registered male and female professional accountant members, is governed by a managing committee elected for two-year terms. The present committee for the 2025-2027 term includes Usman Anwar, FCA (Chairman); Waqar Ahmed Toor, ACA (Vice Chairman); Syeda Mehrunnisa, ACA (Secretary); Faheemuddin Chawla, FCA (Treasurer); and Waleed Tauqeer Qureshi, ACA (Member).
