Doha, 31 Dec. 2025 (QNA)
Everything is ready for the launch of the inaugural HH the Father Amir Equestrian Prix. The organizing committee of the Doha Equestrian Tour has confirmed all preparations are complete for this prestigious event, which opens the Tour’s 2026 season.
Held at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab from January 2-31, the championship will feature over 240 elite local and international riders. With a prize pool exceeding €3.3 million, it promises intense competition and stands as one of the region's most significant equestrian events.
The President of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, Badr bin Mohammed Al Darwish, emphasized that this Prix is a cornerstone of the Doha Tour, which comprises ten international events through April 4 and total prizes over €10 million. He highlighted that the championship is a national platform of global standard, aligning with Qatar’s vision to use sport for sustainable development and international engagement.
The event holds deep symbolic value, honoring HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, whose legacy built Qatar’s modern foundations and sports infrastructure, firmly establishing equestrianism within the nation’s cultural identity. The Federation sees this Prix as a key opportunity to elevate Qatar’s global equestrian profile, expand international participation, and boost the sport locally.
Furthermore, it acts as a driver for the sports economy, attracting visitors, delegations, and related investments. Its timing coincides with other major tournaments in Qatar, amplifying economic and media impact and solidifying Doha’s reputation as a world-class sports hub.
Sheikh Ahmad bin Nooh Al-Thani, Secretary General of the Federation, stated that the Tour and this Prix extend their mission to build a sustainable sporting legacy based on quality and innovation, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The committee has focused on making this first edition an organizational benchmark, adhering to FEI standards.
The event program includes categories from one to five stars, plus junior competitions, ensuring wide participation and talent development. All technical and logistical arrangements at Al Shaqab are finalized—from arena readiness to hospitality and global broadcasting—aiming to provide an outstanding experience for all and cement the Doha Tour’s status among the world’s leading equestrian circuits.
