Later, speaking to the media at a press conference after the event, Mohammad Ali Alnsour, Chief of Middle East and North Africa at the OHCHR, said the conference has put climate change as a priorit. The conference has made recommendations to the different actors, including the United Nations Human Rights Council and also the League of Arab States as partners, and the national human rights institutions (NHRIs), as the main partner in this conference'.
He said that in terms of the implementation, one of the concrete outcomes of the conference was that first ever time, we managed to put climate change as the priority district in this region. Earlier, it wasn’t much regarded as a concern regarding human rights and climate change.
He saud in his view, it was very important that we are moving in this direction.
He stressed that climate change has badly affected agriculture, the right to life, water and sanitation as such not limited to Middle East and African region but is a global complex and technical issue including resources and funds, implementation plan, however, it was an excellent start.
Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali said that the organisers would be preparing a five years plan for keeping track of Foha recommendations.
AlJamali said that we are not focused only on holding annual conference, but also periodic meetings to meet the objectives of the roadmap and action plan we have come up with.
We organised this event to encourage and follow up with the states and to work with OHCHR United Nations to encourage them to respect their commitments regarding climate change and to exert efforts to help humankind adapt to climate change.
