Amir of Qatar Inaugurates Doha Forum 2024,

The Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani this morning inaugurated the 22nd edition of the Doha Forum 2024 under the theme 'The Innovation Imperative' at the hotel Grand Sheraton Doha.

The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Dominican Republic Luis Rodolfo Abinader, President of the Republic of Namibia Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, Chairwoman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame; President of the Central African Republic Faustin-Archange Touadera; Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of  Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani; Prime Minister, Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley, President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis, Secretary-General of the GCC Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, First lady of Republic of Turkiye, First Lady of the United States of America Dr. Jill Biden as well  as heads of delegations from brotherly and friendly countries.

During the event, Amir of Qatar presented the Doha Forum Award to several recipients, including Wael Al Dahdouh and Carmen Joukhadar, correspondents for Al Jazeera Network, independent photojournalist Moataz Azaiza, AFP journalists Dylan Collins and Christina Assi, Director of Arman FM and Arakizia FM Sadaf Popalzai.

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani delivered a speech on the occasion.

He said that the Doha Forum 2024 has evolved into a global platform for addressing challenges and finding solutions at a time when crises are interconnected.

He emphasized the importance of innovative solutions for peace, stability, and development, advocating for new approaches rather than relying on traditional methods.

He highlighted the urgency of tackling issues such as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which is affecting neighboring Lebanon and Syria, stressing the importance of diplomatic efforts, such as those led by Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S., in mitigating suffering and securing hostages. Qatar’s diplomatic successes, including the reunification of children affected by the Russia-Ukraine war, demonstrate the power of innovative diplomacy.

The Prime Minister of  Qatar also  noted the growing gap between traditional systems and the accelerating challenges of today’s world, calling for advanced institutions that emphasize justice and inclusivity. He warned of the risks posed by emerging technologies, such as AI and digital finance, and called for them to be used to promote peace and human welfare.

He concluded by urging participants to work towards innovative solutions for peace and sustainable development, emphasizing that true innovation is essential for addressing today’s global challenges.

HE First Lady of the United States of America Dr. Jill Biden also delivered a keynote address. (QNA)
