Italy Among 37 Countries To Participate In 2023 Horticultural Expo

Driven by science and innovation, Italian agricultural machinery is one of the most advanced in the world, conceived with the aim to make agrifood production more efficient, resilient and sustainable

Following  the successful completion of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,  State of Qatar is preparimg for the first A1 horticultural exhibition in the Gulf, MENA and arid region.

Recent meeting between Ambassador of Italy to Qatar, Paolo Toschi; Head of Italian Trade Commission to Qatar and Bahrain, Ms. Paola Lisi; and Expo 2023 Doha Commissioner General, Bader Al-Dafa, added as milestone in the forthcoming Expo as Italian participation confirmed.

One of the global manufacturing leaders and pioneers of international cooperation regarding global nutrition issues, Italy also at the forefront of the modern 4.0 agricultural technology, including drones, sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and artificial intelligence that will be showcased at the Italian pavilion of Expo 2023 Doha.

The new Italian agricultural mechanics pursue the strategic mission of reconciling maximum productivity with environmental protection and making farming possible in every climatic and environmental context, through increasingly up-to-date and high-performance technologies.

“Italy and Qatar are long-time partners in multiple and strategic sectors, including sustainability and technological innovation.

We are honoured to take part in Expo 2023 Doha – an opportunity for us to continue improving our joint capabilities in fighting desertification, bringing sustainable changes in the production processes, and boosting food security on a global level”, said Paolo Toschi, Italy’s Ambassador to Qatar.

Expo 2023 Doha will also allow countries and regions to engage in productive dialogue and find common solutions to the most pressing environmental and agricultural problems.

“In fields like sustainable development, food security and fight against climate change and desertification, we believe that only by sharing our knowledge and our expertise in multilateral fora will we be able to obtain game-changing results. Expo Doha 2023 reflects this approach, and we believe that the partnerships that we consolidate with the public and private sectors during the exhibition will greatly benefit all parties”, shared Ms. Paola Lisi, Italy’s Trade Commissioner for Qatar and Bahrain.

Revolving around four key themes – modern agriculture, technology and innovation, environmental awareness and sustainability, Expo 2023 Doha will be an important platform for international cooperation, shaping solutions, policies and international agreements that will influence agricultural and horticultural sectors of tomorrow.

“We are pleased to host our Italian partners at the Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar. Italy is incontestably one of the countries that pioneers innovation in modern agriculture and wider sustainability sphere with state-of-the-art technologies. Italian participation will be valuable for the Expo, enabling the participants to learn from Italian experience and form impactful partnerships”, added Expo 2023 Commissioner General, Bader Al Dafa.

Dedicated to modern agriculture, the pavilion of the Italian Republic will be constructed with  ecological materials and surrounded by a garden showcasing aquaponics and hydroponic cultivation areas, vertical and horizontal cultivation systems, as well as other top-notch agricultural methods and technologies.

Carried out between October 2nd, 2023, and March 28th, 2024, Expo 2023 Doha will take place in the heart of Doha in Al Bidda Park, welcoming citizens and residents of Qatar, as well as international visitors and high-level participants.

About Expo 2023 Doha:

Expo 2023 Doha will be the first A1 International Horticultural Exhibition to be held in Qatar, the Middle East, and North Africa. Organized and Led by the Ministry of Municipality, Expo 2023 Doha is conceived in line with the guiding principles of Qatar National Vision 2030 that puts environmental management and sustainable development at the heart of its mission.

Running for 179 days from October 2, 2023 till March 28, 2024 and aimig to reach more than 3 million visitors, Expo Doha 2023 will offer guests with an opportunity to visit ornamental gardens, attend public debates, conferences, live shows and enjoy art and culinary performances in the dedicated area in Al Bidda Park spanning across 1.7M square metres and facing the azure waters of the Arabian gulf.

Under the auspices of the BIE (Bureau Internationale Des Expositions) and AIPH (International Association for Horticultural Producers), the exhibition will draw international visitors and organizers from 80 countries, as well as the national and international related Industries, Government entities and officials ‎‎(local, regional and international), Non-governmental organisations, Commercial affiliates; Sponsors, ‎Partners, Suppliers, Media (local, regional and international) and national, regional, international general ‎public visitors.‎.

The theme of Expo 2023 Doha is "Green Desert, Better Environment" as it aims to encourage sustainable innovation and reduce desertification. It will inspire visitors to take part in the change through 4 sub-themes:

  • Modern Agriculture
  • Technology & Innovation
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Sustainability
