'Majlis-e-Frogh-e-Urdu Adab (MFUA), Doha based World's renowned Urdu language literary organization recently appointed new members of its Management Committee, Mohammad Atiq, the Majlis Chairman announced. The new office bearers include Dr. Fartash Syed, President, Javed Humayun and Roase Mumtaz, Vice Presidents, Obaid Tahir, Secretary-General, Furqan Ahmed Paracha and Qamar uz Zaman Bhatti, Joint Secretaries, Engineer Abdul Razzaq, and Javed Bhatti, Information Secretaries and Raza Hussain Raza, Finance Secretary.
Atiq has been living in Qatar since March, 1973. He is also the Chairman of Shaeqee Ne Fun, a socio-cultural organisation of Pakistani expatriates in Qatar. MFUA was established in 1991 by it's founder, Doha based Late Malik Museeb ur Rehman, a well known literary personality in Urdu literary circle around the world. His love towards URDU language, official language of Pakistan was to promote rich Urdu language, Urdu literature and to hold traditional Urdu Mushaira (poetry sessions) on international level. In addition to acknowledge the great works in Urdu language done by scholars and poets around the world.
A number of top literary personalities of their times and dignitaries from Pakistan, India, GCC States, Europe, USA, Russia, Canada, China, Japan, Australia and other countries from all the regions of the world have participated in annual Urdu poetry sessions held in Doha since 1994.
Later, since 1996, Majlis also started awarding a Gold Medal and Cash Award of Rs. 150,000 to one scholar from India and one from Pakistan each year for their life-time achievements in creative fiction, research and critical works.
Recently in November 2018, 22nd Majlis Int'l Award event was held along with annual poetry session in Hotel Rotana Doha City. 22 scholars and poets from Pakistan and same number from India had participated.
