EU Delegation Visits National Human Rights Office Doha

Alexis Konstantopoulos, first EU adviser lauded the efforts of the State of Qatar in the reform of laws and legislation. He said that other states in the region does acknowledge and praise National Committee for Human Rights in the field of protection and promotion of human rights.

Alexis said during his visit to the Commission yesterday Mitrisa FD working group in the Gulf Cooperation Council affiliated to the European External Action.

There is significant progress in the reform of laws and legislation process and we hope from other countries in the region the same pace for the protection of human rights. Pointing out that the main reason for the visit of a delegation working group of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council is a collaboration with the National Commission for Human Rights and to benefit from its experience in this area.

Sultan bin Hassan Jamali welcomed the members of the delegation and stress on preparing MOU for cooperation between both the parties. He briefed visiting delegation on the role and objectives of NHRC in regards to spreading awareness on Human Rights and to develop as a culture.

Jamali briefed about the procedure followed in regards to complaints received and the mechanism of handling these complaints.

Jamali told about NHRC's regular contact and cooperation with other institutions in the GCC and with the countries in European Union along with the civil societies and Amnesty Int'l, Human Rights Watch, Arab Network of National Institutions for Human Rights and the World Alliance of National Institutions for Human Rights, the Asia-Pacific Forum and the American Center for Labor Solidarity.

In a presentation to the delegation about the origins and vision and classified internationally and structure Altzimi along with its terms of reference and functions of which are summarized in the protection, surveillance, and raise awareness of the culture of human rights in Qatar
