The Amir of State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani welcomed Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at Lusail Palace in Doha on Tuesday, February 24.
Both leaders reviewed the full spectrum of their countries’ relations and expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in political engagement. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation across key sectors, particularly defense, trade, investment, energy, and economic development. Emphasis was placed on translating strong political ties into tangible economic partnerships that would benefit both nations.
As per the official press releases from both the countries sides, Amir of State of Qatar reiterated Qatar’s interest in elevating economic collaboration with Pakistan to a more strategic level, highlighting opportunities for expanded investment and mutually beneficial ventures. The leaders agreed that existing institutional frameworks, including joint commissions and bilateral consultation mechanisms, should continue to play an active role in accelerating cooperation and implementing decisions taken at the leadership level.
Regional and international developments were also high on the agenda. The two sides exchanged views on pressing issues, including evolving Gulf security dynamics and the broader regional situation. Both leaders underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful dispute resolution in maintaining stability. They emphasized adherence to international law and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely within multilateral forums to promote peace and constructive engagement.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged Qatar’s diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and de-escalation in the region. Both countries agreed to maintain close coordination on matters of mutual concern and to continue consultations that contribute to regional and global stability.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides. Representing Qatar were Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani; Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi; along with other high-ranking officials. Accompanying the Pakistani Prime Minister were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar; Information Minister Attaullah Tarar; Advisor Tariq Fatemi, and past st.Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, among others.
As per Pakistan's official news agency APP, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the engagement as warm and productive, noting that discussions centered on advancing brotherly relations and strengthening economic cooperation. He reiterated his invitation to the Amir of Qatar to visit Pakistan, that was graciously accepted, with the visit expected to take place later this year.
The meeting underscored the shared resolve of both nations to broaden their strategic partnership and continue working together for peace, prosperity, and stability in the region and beyond.
