Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, State of Qatar led Qatar’s last delegation to the meetings of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries OPEC, in the aftermath of the State of Qatar’s announcement on Monday withdrawing its membership in the organization.
Al-Kaabi took part in the 175th meeting of the OPEC ministerial conference, which was held in Vienna on Thursday to discuss a number of developments related to the oil markets and production levels. The meetings also reviewed a number of reports including the report of the Secretary General on oil market outlook, and the report of the 130th meeting of the Economic Commission Board.
He also held a series of talks with OPEC oil ministers on the sidelines of the organization’s meetings. The meetings included talks with Kuwait’s oil minister Mr. Bakheet Al-Rasheedi, Oman’s oil minister Muhammad bin Hamad Al-Rumhi, Iraq’s oil minister Thamer Al-Ghadban, Iran’s oil minister Bijan Zanganeh, and Malaysia’s economy minister Mohamed Azmin Ali. Discussions during the meetings covered bilateral ties and cooperation in the field of energy, as well as the challenges facing the oil industry in general and OPEC in particular.
Al-Kaabi also held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries Muhammad Barkindo, during which he discussed Qatar’s decision to withdraw its membership of the organization, and thanked him for his efforts.
