300 Security Experts and representatives of security companies from 42 countries around the world including Qatar will be participating in three days long 7th Conference of International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) with the theme New Trends in Combating Terrorism and Extremism."
Participants aims at exchanging expertise and gaining knowledge of best int'l practices in combating terrorism. He said such conferences provide opportunities to exchange ideas on counter-terrorism methods.
Brig. Mohamed Abdullah al-Muhana al-Marri, Director-General, Police College stressed on the importance of holding an international conference to discuss the region's and the world's urgent issues.
He said that terrorism was a real threat that must be dealt with scientifically, and based on the expert opinions of specialists in security, legal and other fields.
He said this year's theme was chosen due to the threat terrorism poses on the entire world, and need to cooperate to deal with it.
He said that Qatar is one of the leading countries in fighting terrorism and among first countries to adopt the laws tackling terrorist acts and extremism.
He said that conference will provide opportunity to improve ties with INTERPA members, in return will be having access to a comprehensive database to the most effective counter-terrorism practices.
