First Philippines Trade & Tourism Conference to be held in Doha at the Hotel Shangrila on 20th October this year, announced by leaders of the Doha based Filipino community's forums.
Around nine companies and 2000 people are expected to attend the forthcoming event. The day-long event being organised by the Association of Filipino Real Estate Executives in Qatar (AFREEQ) together with Liqha Trading and Creative Arts will showcase investment opportunities in real estate, agri-business, eco-tourism, stocks, bonds and straightforward networking in the Philippines.
The event is organised in collaboration of Philippine Embassy Doha, Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and the Office of Senator Joel Villanueva (Chairman of the Philippine Senate Committee on Labor and Employment).
Joseph Timothy Rivera, Chairman AFREEQ said the aim of the event is to boost the trade and tourism relations between the Philippines and Qatar by giving more tourism options to Qataris. It also intends to educate Filipinos working in Qatar on alternative and supplementary sources of income and to promote entrepreneurial skills among them.
He told that part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the displaced students of Marawi City in the Philippines facing armed conflict.
On the sidelines of the conference, there will be showcase of various products from Philippines along with traditional food stalls, cultural performances local talents.
"PTTCQ is the rebranded and expanded version of the Philippine Property & Investment Show Qatar which we first had in 2015 and then last year. Just like the previous shows, the conference this year is not only focused on exhibitions but was designed to be educational, which we believe is timely given the current situation in the country. Aside from boosting the trade and tourism relations between the Philippines and Qatar, we also aspire to encourage Filipino workers to be more entrepreneurial," Rivera said.
Undersecretary of Department of Trade & Industry of Philippines, Atty. Ruth Castelo, Dr. Alvin Ang, Director Ateneo Center for Economic Research & Development, Dexter Villamin, CEO DV Boer are among the speakers visiting from Philippines to participate in the event.
The local guest speakers include Atty. Daisy Tingson of Pinoywise and Bernard Anduyon of Overseas Filipino Investor and Entrepreneur Movement (OFIE-M). Entrepreneur Isabel Granada, StarNet International Marketing Director & Showbiz Celebrity will be delivering a talk on modern multi-level marketing as well as rendering live performances.
Bhem Asperilla of Megaworld International said "We have observed a very healthy appetite among Qataris to invest in the Philippines. Many of them are looking towards the Philippines now for different investment opportunities. We look forward to the success of this trade and tourism conference'.
Layla Bernal al Lenjawi, Treasurer, United Filipino Organizations in Qatar (UFOQ) appealed to Filipino community to support the event since the event has charity component also.
