Ministry of Economy and Commerce launched today a service to register patents electronically through its website.

The Ministry released a statement today to the press announcing the service, saying it is part of its effort to constantly develop its offering. The entire patent registration process, whether the application or its processing, will be online.

The new service will allow for speeding up the process and save the applicants the effort of having to come to the Ministry. In its statement, the ministry said that patents are crucial to inventors and investors who seek to commercialize a product. It also protects the inventors' rights from possible infringements related to their product.

Registering the patent also recognizes the contribution an individual or an organization made in a field, regardless of whether they wish to commercialize that contribution or not. The ministry warned in a statement that failing to register a patent will enable others to claim the right to a product and its commercialization
