Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, Director General, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan briefed on Thursday at the Parliament House the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, important external matters, internal challenges, current situation in Kashmir and Afghanistan. Committee Chairman and Speaker of National Assembly, Asad Qaiser presided over the session.
Prime Minister Imran Khan did not attend the closed door briefing. It was first time during last three years of present government tenure that such top level briefing took place.
Among the participants included Army Chief, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, political leadership, Chief Ministers of the Four Provinces, Heads of all parliamentary parties both in National Assembly and Senate.
Military High Command told the political leadership and law makers that Pakistan had honestly played a very positive and responsible role in Afghan Peace process. Pakistan will welcome the true representative government of Afghanistan and will continue playing it's responsible role for lasting peace in neighboring country.
As per the press release on the occasion, the lawmakers were told that "Due to Pakistan's efforts, not only was the path paved for talks between different Afghan factions and warring groups, but meaningful dialogue between the United States and Taliban was also started.
"We believe in the fact that lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan will actually result in stability in South Asia," the ministry's press release added.

However, Taleban Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has rejected any link with TTP and said that Afghan Taleban will take action against TTP and will not facilitate TTP and others against Pakistan.
