Qatar and Indonesia Pledge Stronger Ties with $4 Billion Investment Fund at Doha Summit

On Sunday, the Amir of State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a session of official talks with President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto at the Amiri Diwan in Doha.

The session commenced with the Amir welcoming President Prabowo and his accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay in Qatar. His Highness emphasized the significance of the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations and expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples.

President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality, underlining his commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and broadening strategic ties across all sectors.

The two sides agreed to establish a joint investment fund worth USD 4 billion. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy and investment, in addition to reviewing regional and international issues of shared concern.

The meeting was attended by several senior Qatari officials, including the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani; Amiri Diwan Chief Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi; Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani; and Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi.

On the Indonesian side, the delegation included Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono; Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin; Minister of Investment and Downstream Rosan Perkasa Roeslani; Minister of Culture Fadli Zon; and Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, alongside other senior officials.

Amir Of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AlThani and President Prabowo also held a private one-on-one meeting where they discussed the latest developments in regional and international affairs and shared perspectives on efforts to advance peace and stability.

Following the talks, both leaders attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic dialogue between the governments of Qatar and Indonesia. Amir of Qatar hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of President Prabowo and his delegation.

President Prabowo received an official reception ceremony upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan. The Indonesian leader is currently on an official five-nation tour, having previously visited the UAE, Türkiye—where he participated in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum—and Egypt, where he met with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Following his visit to Qatar, he is scheduled to conclude his regional tour in Jordan.

According to Indonesia’s official news agency ANTARA, President Prabowo landed in Doha at approximately 9:12 p.m. on Saturday, traveling from Cairo. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Qatari government representatives and officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Doha.

During the state welcome ceremony at the Amiri Diwan, President Prabowo was given guards of honor. The two leaders then held a bilateral meeting and a private tête-à-tête session to explore strategic cooperation opportunities, concluding with the signing of key MoUs aimed at deepening economic and development collaboration.
