The State of Qatar has joined the Nuclear Security Contact Group (NSCG), and the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the International Organizations in Vienna has sent a note to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stating that the State of Qatar has joined the NSCG and its commitment to the objectives set forth in the Statement of Principles of the Group as contained in document INCIRC/899, and requested that it be published as an official document and circulated to Member States.
The Nuclear Security Contact Group (NSCG) was established at the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit in Washington through the Joint Statement on Sustaining Action to Strengthen Global Nuclear Security. The co-sponsors of the Joint Statement agreed to help address continuing and evolving nuclear security challenges, with the objectives of advancing implementation of nuclear security commitments and building a strengthened, sustainable and comprehensive global nuclear security architecture.
