In a new international achievement highlighting its record of security accomplishments across Asia and globally, the State of Qatar has secured a seat on the Executive Committee of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
This success was achieved during the 92nd Interpol General Assembly, held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, from November 4 to 7, 2024. The State of Qatar participated with a delegation led by HE Sheikh Nayef bin Faleh bin Saud Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Affairs, along with several ministry officials.
Lt. Col. Ali Mohammed Al-Ali, Director of Arab and International Police Communication Department at the Ministry of Interior, was elected as the representative for Asia.
The elections were highly competitive, with candidates from seven Asian countries vying for the position, underscoring its critical role in strengthening leadership within the organization.
Following the announcement, Sheikh Nayef bin Faleh bin Saud Al Thani noted that this achievement reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting regional and global peace and stability while reinforcing its presence in major international organizations, particularly in the fields of international security and police cooperation.
He emphasized that this victory underscores the international community’s confidence in Qatar and its leadership in establishing effective security standards that address today’s challenges.
