President of South Korea Yoon Suk-yeol sought stronger ties with Qatar, especially in the fields of energy, technology and food security as he met with Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Thursday.

Suk-yeol and Sheikh Mohammed reviewed bilatera cooperation, ways to support and develop them in various fields and Qatar's preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The South Korean president said the agreement signed on Wednesday for mutual exemption of visa requirements for citizens of the two countries would strengthen the bilateral relations.

He also praised the efforts of Qatar in mediating between the United States and the Afghan Taliban, as well as Doha's hosting of the indirect talks between the US and Iran.
