Taliban Takes Over Kabul Presidential Palace

Afghan Taliban forces once again took over charge of presidential palace in country's Capital city after 19 years and 10 months loosing into the hands of invading US-NATO forces in October 2001.
President Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan this morning as Taliban closes in on Kabul early today, according to the country’s top peace negotiator Abdullah Abdullah.

Reuters reported that Ghani left for Tajikistan.

Taliban fighters has encircled Kabul Sunday morning after capturing 26 of the country’s 34 provincial capitals in less than two weeks.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left message on his facebook from undisclosed location that he left the the presidential palace in order to avoid bloodshed, as the Taliban entered the presidential palace in Kabul.
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai (2001-2014) announced immediately formation of a coordination council to ensure a smooth transfer of power after the sitting President Ashraf Ghani flee the country.

Karzai, said the measure was taken to "prevent chaos" and to "manage the affairs related to peace and peaceful transfer of power."

Among other members besides Karzai, head of Afghanistan's High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar are members of the council.

The council called on the government and Taliban forces in Kabul to prevent chaos while maintaining restraint.

Statement issued bu Taliban Spokesperson Suhail Shaheen in his statement to media said that Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan assures once again to its citizens that it will, as always, protect their life, property and honour and create a peacefull and secure environment for its beloved nation. In this regard no one should worry about their life.

The statement directed all Mujahideen to pay utmost attention to the treasury, public facilities, government offices and equipments, parks, roads, bridges being property of the nation strictly to be protected and avoid any personal tampering and negligence.

Taliban leadership announced general amnesty and assured no revenge against any one in their areas under control.

Meanwhile, Russia’s presidential envoy for Afghanistan said on Sunday that it is the time to recognize the Taliban as Afghanistan's legitimate authority has not come yet.

Russian state news agency RIA reported  Zamir Kabulov saying Moscow is ready to work with a future interim government.

Kabulov said that Russia is not worried about the situation in Afghanistan because it has good ties with both the Taliban and the Afghan government

Qatar today called for a peaceful transition of power in Afghanistan that paves the way for a comprehensive political solution that includes all Afghan parties and realises security and stability.

Minostry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar in a statement stressed the need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Afghanistan and to guarantee safety of civilians.
