Uzbek - Turkish Leaders Held Strategic Discussions; 19 MoUs Signed

Following the third meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a Joint Declaration on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership.

Later, in the presence of the leaders of the two countries, a ceremony was held to sign 19 documents covering a wide range of issues of a multifaceted partnership, in particular:

– Agreement on cooperation in the field of scientific exchange and high technologies;

– Agreement on strengthening cooperation in the field of regional development;

– Agreement on cooperation in the field of standardization;

– Protocol on cooperation in providing technical assistance during Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of space science, technology and research;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of agricultural education;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of energy development;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of culture;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of information;

– Protocol on cooperation on cadastre issues;

– Protocol on cooperation in the tourism sector;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of supporting the institution of family and women;

– Protocol on cooperation in the field of management training;

– Protocol on cooperation in advanced training in the legal field.

Bilateral documents on preferential trade, regulation of the energy market, as well as an Action Plan to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture were also adopted.

Earlier, on arrival at the Capital’s Esenboga airport, President  Shavkat Mirziyoyev was received by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and other officials.

Later, on arrival at the Presidential Palace, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Uzbek president and a guard of honor was given in his honor.

Negotiations between the heads of states began in a narrow format, during which issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkish relations of a comprehensive strategic partnership were discussed.

Both sides discussed issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkish relations within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The first meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Business Council took place in Ankara, under the patronage of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan took part in the work of the council.

From Uzbekistan, participated by Global Textile, ProCab, Agromir Group, ERIELL Group, Akfa Holding, Murad Buildings, SAG, BMB Holding, and Uzbekistan Hydrogen.

The Turkish side was represented by Çalık, Cengiz, Acibadem, Eczacıbaşı, Anadolu Group, Aksa Energy, Zorlu, Kalyon, Onur Group and others.

This dialogue with entrepreneurs took place for the first time in this format. The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Türkiye noted that the creation of the Uzbek-Turkish Business Council symbolizes a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.

The need for regular meetings of the Council was emphasized to promptly resolve emerging issues and promote priority areas for further investment, trade and economic cooperation.

The President of Uzbekistan noted the positive dynamics of bilateral trade, economic and investment partnership. Over the past five years, the number of enterprises with Turkish capital has tripled, reaching 2,000, and the volume of investments has doubled.

As a result of the recent business forum, a significant package of bilateral documents was signed in the fields of agriculture, construction, energy, healthcare, geology, electrical engineering, production of building materials, jewelry, textile and leather industries.

The President gave examples of the successful activities of Turkish companies Cengiz Energy, Aksa Energy, Çalık Holding, Eczacıbaşı and Anadolu in the energy, construction, mining and food industries.

He also outlined promising areas of cooperation, such as expanding investment cooperation and industrial cooperation.

An agreement was reached on the creation of an Uzbek-Turkish industrial cluster, which will become an industrial zone in Uzbekistan and a locomotive of interaction between the two countries.

The President of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the development of public-private partnership mechanisms, through which it is planned to implement projects worth more than US$3 billion.

Cooperation in the mining industry was also emphasized, where practical work has already begun with Turkish mining and geological companies on the study and extraction of mineral resources.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his desire to further strengthen mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan in all areas. He noted the great potential for the development of direct cooperation between the business communities of the two countries and called on the Council participants for a constructive dialogue.

During the exchange of views, representatives of Turkish business circles highly appreciated the opportunities created by reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to implement long-term plans in our country.

At the meeting, specific proposals were voiced to deepen cooperation in priority areas from the heads of leading companies in Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

The heads of state thanked business representatives for their willingness to work together and instructed responsible leaders to provide comprehensive support to entrepreneurs.
