HEC Paris Doha Campus Introduces Master’s Degree in Management, HR and Mktg & Sales

HEC Paris, one of the world’s leading providers of executive education, presented an updated version of its Specialized Master’s in Business Unit Management (SBUM) degree program today, January 16. The updated Master’s degree is designed to give participants a distinct advantage in today’s competitive employment market.

The 18-month program targets professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to enhance their leadership and management skills or looking at managing their own business. The program structure includes a core curriculum taken by all participants, a professional thesis writing and the flexibility to customize part of the program by following one of three tracks aligned to participants’ chosen career aspirations: General Management, Marketing & Sales or Human Resources Management.

The General Management track is a learning journey from the perspective of a business unit manager. It allows participants to gain a deeper understanding of different business environments and leadership skills exploring strategies for success. The Marketing & Sales track will enable participants while to de­sign, lead and execute innovative solutions in order to sustainably boost marketing and sales performance. Participants following the HR Management track will learn to design, direct, and implement best practices to steer HR departments; discover how to drive employee engagement; and contribute to corporate and national visions.

Dr Nils Plambeck, Dean and CEO of HEC Paris in Qatar, Dr Wolfgang Amann, SBUM Academic Director, and Omran Yousef M. H. Al-Sherawi, AGM, Head of Asset and Liability Management at Commercial Bank and SBUM Alumnus class of 2013, addressed the launch event held at the HEC Paris Doha Campus, at Tornado Tower, today.

Dr Plambeck said 'At HEC Paris, we have a deep understanding of today’s global business landscape, and the expertise to develop professionals with the skills they need to further enhance their leadership and management skills. In partnership with Qatar Foundation, we are committed to training and developing the region’s business leaders of tomorrow.'

A team of experts led by Academic Director Dr Wolfgang Amann,  will guide participants through the core curriculum that will focus on understanding, creating and implementing a successfully strategy, understanding finance, leadership, and change management. They will also have access to world-renowned HEC Paris faculty Prof. Francois Railliet, who will lead the HR Management track, and Prof. Christopher Hogg, who will lead the Marketing & Sales track.

Dr Amann said: “This revamped Master’s program will enable participants to seize new opportunities and prepare for more challenging times. We have created an interactive learning environment that encourages and enables participants to step back from their daily routines, discover next generation insights and acquire the tools for sustainable success.”

“The professional thesis will allow participants to further personalize their program to concentrate on an area of strategic importance that is specific to their organization and personal development”.

The 10-day track in Marketing & Sales or HR Management from the degree program can also be taken separately as certificates. Additionally, some modules from those tracks can be selected as Executive short programs spanning over two to three days. These Executive short programs cover the following topics: Marketing through Social Media, Sales excellence, Developing and growing talent, Diversity Management through HR, and Negotiation Skills.

All Executive short programs and Certificates taken separately can be used towards the specialized master´s degree program at a later stage. The next intake for the new SBUM program will be in July 2018.
