QU Arabic Toastmasters Club Launched, 'Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders' Rukhsana Khan

A large group of Qatar University students joined first ever 'Toastmasters Club' recently opened for the students in Qatar University. Club Founder Executive Committee members were elected namely Alaa Afify as President, Maram Hefni, Vice President Education, Abdulla Al-Hajiri, Vice President Membership, Mohammed Mollazehi as Vice President Public Relations, Asmaa Bakr, Club Secretary, Sameh Abdulzaher, Treasurer and Fadwa Kassem as Seargent at Arms.

'Toastmasters International' is a global non-profit educational organization, founded in Los Angeles, US in 1924, that provides everyone the opportunity to master public speaking and leadership skills through a global worldwide plexus network of over 15,000 clubs in 142 countries.

Research Center auditorium full packed with overwhelmingly students both male and female from Qatar University (QU) witnessed a demo presentation on how to develop Communication & Leadership skills. Around 80 students attended the ceremony who enthusiastically took part in question and answer session to know more about club operation and the benefits. The event was organised by Yasser Al-Qawasmi, Senior Coordinator of Student Clubs at the Qatar University, Abdulla Al-Yafei, Associate Vice President for Student Life & Services, QU in cooperation and coordination with Senior Toastmasters M/s Rukhsana Khan, Area Director '18' and Nevine Kamel, Assistant Area Director Club Growth. Al-Qawasmi highlighted on the importance of developing Communication & Leadership skills in any individual life necessary in today's highly competitive society for self-development as a professional or an entrepreneur as well as for smooth running in personal life.

'QU Toastmasters Club' is hoping to offer students the skills they will need in future to excel in their desired fields and in personal life,' told by Yasser Al-Qawasmi, Senior Coordinator of Student Clubs at the Qatar University. He told that 'QU Toastmasters Club' is the second Arabic language club in Qatar followed by 'Tamim Toastmasters Club'.

Present on the occasion were Arwa Khedr, a student of Law College, Abdulla Hamdan and Mohamed Alabrash, all winners of number of awards in Communication & Leadership skills competitions on Qatar and Middle East Levels from Tamim Toastmasters platform, Toastmasters Ikhlas Shamiiea and Ashraf Siddiqui, Media Manager 'Div Q'.

Abdulla Hamdan and Ehab Medhat are given the responsibilities of Mentor for the guidance and assisting of developing speeches of QU Toastmasters Club.

Area Director Toastmasters, Miss Rukhsana Khan and Nevine Kamel also addressed on the occasion and lauded the vision of Qatar University leadership and their deep interest in the self-development of youths personality. Miss Khan said “Toastmasters share QU’s values of excellence, volunteerism and a commitment to contributing to the development of Qatari society. Every toastmasters club supports Qatar’s National Vision, through the two important pillars of social and human development. We are here to make today’s learners, tomorrow’s leaders.”
