Qatar: Pakistani Community Marked Defence Day

Pakistan embassy and Pakistani community members in Qatar recently marked their annual defence day with great enthusiasm and fervor.

Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to State of Qatar,  Syed Ahsan Raza Shah led flag hoisting ceremony at the embassy premises. Present on the occasion were Cmdr. (Brig.) Saqib Ilyas, Defence Attache of Pakistan in Qatar, members of the Pakistani armed forces and officials of Pakistan embassy.

Pakistani envoy in his address on the occasion paid his tributes to the members of the Pakistan defence forces specially those sacrificed their lives in defence of the motherland. He highlighted the importance of the day in Pakistan history.

He said that the Pakistani nation and its Armed Forces are always fully geared up to confront any challenge threatening the national security. Referring to the  sacrifices of Pakistan in the global war against terror, he mentioned the significant contribution of the Pakistani Armed Forces to UN peace-keeping operations and in providing humanitarian assistance globally in case of natural disasters.

He regarded bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar as excellent including in defence sector. Pakistani envoy said that these are based on historical bonds of a shared faith, history and culture.

He lauded and expressed pride on the contribution of Pakistani community as a 'living bridge' between both the two countries and it's contribution towards  remarkable progress and prosperity of the host brotherly country.

A documentary on heroes of the Pakistani nation was also displayed on the occasion.

Various Doha based Pakistani community forums arranged get-together to pay their tributes to the heroes who sacrificed their lives defending their country and the Ghazis standing to safeguard their nation.

A Pakistani Professionals group led by Engineer Arshad Hussain, Anwar Ali Rana (fame 'Meetwith Rana') and Atiq U Rasheed arranged a dinner get together at Hasan Kolcuoglu Restaurant, The Pearl Qatar, Doha.

Cmdr. Saqib Ilyas, Defence Attache of Pakistan to Qatar; Syed Ali Ahsan, Consular Pakistan embassy; Waheed Ullah Khan, Community Welfare Attache, Pakistan embassy; Riaz Bakali, business and professional  community members participated to pay their tributes to the national heroes.
