Qatar: Embassy Delivers 150 Oxygen Cylinders, 22 Pulseoximeters to Help Meet COVID Crisis in Sri Lanka

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha has facilitated the first air shipment of 150 oxygen cylinders and 22 pulseoximeters as part of its support to help in handling the COVID-19 chellenges back home. the shipment was made through by Sri Lankan airlines.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar Mohamed Mafaz Mohideen thanked and lauded the community members and leaders for their help in arranging necessary items to be sent to Sri Lanka to help the government fight the pandemic.

Talking to Qatar tribune, the Sri Lankan envoy thanked all donors who have contributed towards the noble and humanitarian cause. He said Sri Lanka is facing dramatic increase in COVID-19 infections and deaths amid the current wave and a severe shortage of medical equipment for more critical cases.

He thanked Chairman of Sri Lankan airlines Ashok Pathirage, and the airline’s Country Manager Thusitha Wickramasinghe for their support. The envoy said the consignment of cylinders and pulse oximeters were delivered to the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka and are expected to be distributed among government hospitals to reinforce the capacity to help the country overcome the critical situation.

Tenison De Silva, president of Sri Lankan Coordinating Committee(SLCC), the umbrella forum of all Sri Lankan community forums in Qatar working under the aegis of the embassy, and SLCC General-Secretary Lenny Cramer thanked the envoy for the initiative and assured him of the community’s full support whenever their motherland requires it.
