The Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar (NHRC), Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, highlighted Qatar's significant progress in the field of human rights in recent years. This progress has been reflected in various initiatives and developments across sectors such as health, education, labor, social security, and sustainable development.
She underscored the State of Qatar's special attention to vulnerable groups, demonstrating its strong commitment to ensuring the well-being of both citizens and expatriates. These remarks were made during her participation in Qatar's Universal Periodic Review discussions before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Al Attiyah further noted that several draft laws are currently under review by the relevant authorities in the country, describing this as an important step toward strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights.
The National Human Rights Committee, she stated, is dedicated to ensuring the implementation of human rights principles for all individuals under Qatar's legal jurisdiction. She emphasized that the country remains steadfast in its efforts to uphold and advance human rights.
Expressing hope for continued legal reforms, she stressed the importance of enhancing protection and empowerment for all individuals, reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to human rights at all levels.
On behalf of the National Human Rights Committee, Al Attiyah extended her gratitude to the Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review team, and all countries that contributed to the recommendations submitted by the State of Qatar.
