Engineer Omar AlAnsari, Secretary General of Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) expressed his views to Editor www.asiantelegraphqatar.com on the concluding day of 3rd Web Summit 2026 in Qatar as truly exceptional, saying the energy and excitement throughout the event were unmatched. In his view, it’s hard to imagine a better global tech gathering than Web Summit.

He noted that while attendance had grown significantly, what stood out even more was the rise in quality across the board—from the pavilions and booths to the startups, visitors, and depth of interactions. Overall, he called the experience genuinely impressive.

He expressed pride in the flawless organization of the event and praised the efforts of all the organizers, as well as the Qatari agencies involved, acknowledging the remarkable job they had done. According to him, the summit clearly demonstrated how Qatar’s innovation ecosystem is coming to life.

Speaking about the role of QRDI, he emphasized that it serves as a key driver of innovation in the country. He explained that QRDI has expanded its programs to ensure that innovation not only happens in Qatar, but that companies also choose the country as a base for their development teams. The goal, he said, is to encourage startups to build and develop their products locally, collaborate with large state-owned enterprises and universities, and hire local talent.

He added that QRDI actively supports companies by subsidizing costs, providing grants, and offering the resources needed to develop, pilot, and eventually scale their products globally—all starting from Qatar.

In his message to startups both locally and internationally, he stressed that Qatar is the place to be over the next five years. He highlighted that funding, grants, and investment opportunities are readily available, but more importantly, startups will find high-quality partners, whether in major enterprises or academic institutions.

He also pointed out that Doha has become an outstanding place to live, offering excellent schools and a high quality of life. He encouraged entrepreneurs to bring their teams and families, assuring them they would enjoy both professional success and a fulfilling lifestyle in Qatar.

He concluded by expressing his gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to share his thoughts.
