The Doha Ambassadors Football Club, with support from the Generation Amazing Foundation and sponsorship from Lulu Hypermarket, successfully hosted its second annual international football tournament recently. This event continues to uphold the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, emphasizing the unifying power of sport and international cooperation.

Founded in alignment with the spirit of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Doha Ambassadors Football Club fosters international unity through sport. The tournament serves as a platform to strengthen global ties and promote community engagement.

This year’s tournament featured over 30 ambassadors competing in a friendly 7 vs. 7 format, with teams representing Africa, America, Asia, and Europe. More than just a competition, the event reinforced Qatar’s role as a global sports hub, fostering diplomatic ties through football.

In an impressive display of teamwork, Team Asia claimed the championship, followed by Team Africa, Team Europe, and Team America. However, the true triumph lay in the camaraderie and shared commitment to sports diplomacy.

The tournament highlights the unifying power of sports in bringing cultures together, promoting inclusivity, and fostering shared experiences. Through this initiative, ambassadors not only participate in friendly competition but also exchange ideas on youth empowerment, well-being, and international collaboration.

Nasser Al-Khori, Executive Director of Generation Amazing Foundation commented on the occasion that 'We are proud to celebrate, for the second consecutive year, a day of unity through sport'. He added that ‘Such events highlight how football fosters bonds, diplomacy, and collaboration worldwide’.

HE François Guillaume II, Ambassador of Haiti and acting Coordinator for the Doha Ambassadors Football Club, in his remarks sad that ‘This tournament strengthens diplomatic relations while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle’.

HE Arman Issagaliyev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan, highlighted the broader impact: ‘Beyond football, this initiative fosters mutual respect and cooperation among nations, reinforcing Qatar’s dedication to peace and international collaboration’.

HE Salah Attia, Ambassador of Algeria, emphasized the significance of the event, said on the occasion, that sport is a universal language that transcends borders. This tournament embodies the lasting impact of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, demonstrating how football can build connections, strengthen relationships, and inspire future generations.

HE Pekka Voutilainen, Ambassador of Finland, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, he commented that Football has brought us together as diplomats in a way few other activities can. Qatar’s dedication to sports diplomacy is truly commendable, and we greatly value the spirit of collaboration that ensures the tournament’s success year after year."

Farhan Al Sheikh Al Sayed, a Doha Ambassadors Football Club committee member and President of the Walking Football Federation Qatar, acknowledged the DAFC Intercontinental Tournament as a unique global event that promotes football and a healthy lifestyle among ambassadors and the diplomatic community.
