Qatar Wins AFC Champion

The Amir of State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the closing ceremony of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 at Lusail Stadium on Saturday.

The ceremony was attended by the Personal Representative of Amir of State of Qatar,  Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani; Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani; Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani; Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al-Thani; Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani; Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim' and a large number of dignitaries; sheikhs, ministers and lineup of Their

Also present at the ceremony were President of the friendly Republic of Rwand, a Paul Kagame, HRH Crown Prince of the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, HE President of the FIFA Gianni Infantino, HE President of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, and a number of senior officials from the fraternal and friendly countries along with Heads of delegations, Heads of Olympic Committees and Arab and foreign football federations, Their Excellencies heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the state, and a huge crowd of spectators.

Afterwards, HH the Amir crowned Qatar national football team with AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 trophy following their 3-1 victory over the brotherly team of Jordan.

HH the Amir, the FIFA President, HRH the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and HE the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President awarded the golden medals to the Qatar national team players and the silver medals to the national team players of Jordan, the runner-up.

Qatar's Meshaal Barsham was named the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Best Goalkeeper after playing a pivotal role in his side lifting the coveted trophy for the second successive time.
The custodian, who celebrates his 26th birthday on Wednesday, started six of Qatar's seven matches with the Maroons defeating Jordan 3-1 in a thrilling final at the Lusail Stadium on Saturday.
Barsham, who plays his club football with Al Sadd SC, was rock-solid throughout Qatar's campaign. He kept three clean sheets out of the seven matches Qatar played - having come on as substitute in the final group match against China PR.
The custodian played a major role in Qatar joining Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Korea Republic and Saudi Arabia in winning back-to-back AFC Asian Cup titles.
