Ankara, Doha to Translate Arab-Islamic Summit Outcomes into Tangible Actions: Turkish Envoy to Qatar

Ambassador of Türkiye to Qatar HE Dr Mustafa Göksu has praised the final statement of the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which concluded its work on September 15 in Doha, for its strong condemnation of the heinous Israeli attack on Qatar, stressing that Ankara and Doha have agreed to translate the outcomes into tangible actions.

Ambassador Göksu emphasized that Türkiye views the outcomes of this extraordinary summit as a necessary step to harmonise regional positions and enhance practical coordination on collective security issues in the Middle East.

He noted that the summit highlighted the alignment of priorities between Ankara and Doha in protecting national sovereignty and rejecting all forms of Israeli aggression.He commended the significant achievement of organizing this summit within just six days.

He pointed out that convening the extraordinary Islamic summit at a critical moment reflects the harmony of the Islamic countries’ position in rejecting these aggressions and supporting efforts to protect the sovereignty of states and the security of people.

Ambassador Göksu explained that Türkiye participated in the summit with a high-level delegation, demonstrating its full solidarity with Qatar and reaffirming its commitment to working with all Islamic countries to address common challenges and prevent any attempts to destabilise the region. He stated that Türkiye sees this summit as a strong message to the international community about the urgent need to halt Israeli attacks and ensure respect for international law.

He also underlined that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during the opening of the summit, emphasised the importance of translating the summit’s decisions into a global declaration, noting that the escalating Israeli aggression poses a direct threat to the region.

Dr. Göksu stressed Türkiye’s clear stance, as expressed by President Erdoğan, warning that Israeli aggression will not cease unless addressed seriously. He noted that the Israeli attack reached Qatar, the mediating state seeking peace and hosting negotiations to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages, making it imperative to hold Israeli officials accountable for crimes against humanity under international law.

The ambassador underlines that safeguarding human life, especially in the Gaza Strip, is paramount and non-negotiable priority.The Turkish envoy confirmed that President Erdoğan highlighted that Netanyahu’s government aims to continue committing massacres against the Palestinian people and push the region towards chaos, amid repeated illusions by some Israeli politicians about a so-called “Greater Israel.”

He pointed out that confronting these challenges requires enhancing self-sufficiency in defence sectors, intensifying defence cooperation among Islamic countries.

He praised the stance of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his firm rejection of Israel’s policy of imposing realities on the region to reshape the Middle East, affirming that Qatar refuses to let the Arab region become an area of Israeli influence and that Israeli aggression targeting civilians in Gaza must be confronted.

The envoy also noted that the bilateral meeting between the leaders of Qatar and Türkiye revealed the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries, with President Erdoğan renewing his country’s commitment to strengthening partnership with Qatar.

He added that the Turkish Foreign Minister also expressed that Türkiye, as always, stands by Qatar and that there is an unbreakable bonds between the two countries.

He welcomed calls made during the summit to respect the rules of international law and strengthen mechanisms for accountability regarding human rights violations and acts of genocide committed by Israel in Gaza.He underscored the importance of translating the
