Geneva, October 05 (QNA) - Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, Chairman, National Human Rights Committee Qatar (NHRC) met Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad, the United Nations high commissioner for human rights. Both organizations enjoy strategic partnership and reviewed means of boosting cooperation and future mutual activities at the local, regional and international levels. They also discussed the mechanisms of following up on the recommendations of the two international conferences that NHRC and the office of the high commissioner have organized in November 2014 on the challenges of security and human rights in the Arab region and in January 2016 on the role of the office of the high commissioner for human rights in the Arab region.
The two officials stressed on the importance of moving forward with implementing the recommendations of the two conferences through designated committees and achieving their basic goals.
They also touched a set of issues that concern the international arena in general and the Arab region in particular, reiterating the need to follow up on these issues and coming up with solutions through specialized workshops and conferences.
