The State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the health sector.
A press release issued by Ministry of Public Health of Qatar says that the MoU was signed on behalf of the State of Qatar by Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health, and on behalf of Egypt by Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population.
Dr Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, attended the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding.
The two countries have agreed to cooperate in several key areas: public health, medical sciences, healthcare system development, food safety, and the exchange and training of medical experts.
A delegation from the State of Qatar, headed by the Minister of Public Health, is participating in the seventy-second session of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, being held in Cairo from 15 to 17 October under the theme 'Together for a Healthier Future: Action. Access. Equity'.
Qatar Participates in the Meetings of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean

The State of Qatar is participating in the seventy-second session of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, which opened today in Cairo and will continue for three days under the theme “Together for a Healthier Future: Action. Access. Equity.”
The Qatari delegation to the session is headed by His Excellency Mr Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health.
The meetings are discussing a number of key topics, including reports on health issues affecting populations impacted by disasters and emergencies, addressing noncommunicable diseases in emergency situations, the strategy for promoting the health and well-being of refugees, migrants and internally displaced populations in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, as well as the eradication of poliomyelitis and the response to its outbreaks, and tackling diabetes as one of the region’s major public health challenges.
The meetings also address the strategic framework for implementing the Immunisation Agenda 2030 in the region, the regional strategic framework for blood safety and availability, and strengthening the nursing workforce to advance universal health coverage in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
In addition, the meetings are reviewing several technical papers, including the development of a regional implementation framework and action plan on climate change and health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, as well as the latest updates on the implementation of the WHO Transformation Agenda in the region.
