The vibrant energy of Old Doha Port provided a stunning backdrop as Polo AlMarsa Qatar 2025 drew to a spectacular close today. The event’s landmark second day captivated over 3,000 spectators—a mix of VIPs, celebrity guests, sponsors, media, and the public, who were treated to world-class sport and cultural celebration. The festivities culminated in an awards ceremony that not only honored the champions but also delivered exciting news for the sporting community: Polo AlMarsa is confirmed to return for its second edition in 2026.

Seamlessly blending sport, heritage, and luxury lifestyle, the event was hosted by the Qatar Polo Club, supported by The Social & Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), and presented by Qatar Calendar. Set against the picturesque Mina District waterfront, Polo AlMarsa reflected both the timeless elegance of polo and the dynamic spirit of modern Doha. This unique fusion was further enriched by the Qatar Argentina and Chile 2025 Year of Culture partnership, which threaded authentic cultural elements throughout the experience.

On the field, the competition reached its thrilling climax. Team Lusail, comprising Bader Al Marri, Beltrán Laulhé, and Gastón Laulhé, claimed the prestigious Polo AlMarsa Qatar 2025 Championship Cup after a decisive 6–3 victory. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani presented the trophy to the victorious team. The Runners-Up trophy was awarded to Team Doha, Abdulaziz Al Qahtani, Beltrán Di Paola, and Marcos Di Paola by H.E. Saad Ali Al‑Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism.

The ceremony also shone a spotlight on the sport’s promising future. Prior to the main award, Sheikha Al Mayassa honored the junior players. The Mini Mallet Cup was claimed by Team Doha Juniors (Patrick Clarkin, Elizabeth Clarkin, and Milo Mac Donough) following a narrow 1–0 win, while Team Lusail Juniors were celebrated as the runners-up. The equine athletes were also recognized, with Best Playing Pony honors awarded to Attraccion Fatal, ridden by Pablo MacDonough, and to Tumba, played by Beltran Laulhe.

From the first whistle, Day Two delivered fast-paced, gripping chukkas that showcased precision, international flair, and the rising talent within Qatar’s own polo scene, underscoring the nation’s growing stature in global equestrian sport.

Beyond the arena, the event was a feast for the senses. Guests arrived in elegant, equestrian-inspired fashion, contributing to the distinctive glamour of the day. The ‘Fashions on the Field’ competition added vibrant personality, while a special collaboration with Rari artisanal weavers from Chile presented bespoke fascinator designs. Throughout the Polo Village at Old Doha Port, visitors enjoyed gourmet offerings, cultural displays, live entertainment, and family activities. The Years of Culture tent featured live mural painting by artists Joel Posh and Animalitoland, embodying the spirit of cross-cultural collaboration.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Ashraf Abuissa shared, “The energy across Old Doha Port today reflects everything we envisioned. What began as an idea has now become a world-class platform that celebrates Qatar’s culture, creativity, and sporting excellence. The event will return every year, and we hope it will continue to grow bigger and better.”

His Excellency Mohammed Al Kuwari, Years of Culture Advisor on Latin America, highlighted the deeper significance of the tournament: “As we celebrate our 2025 partnerships with Argentina and Chile, this polo showcase holds special meaning. Sport has always been a powerful connector within Years of Culture, creating instant common ground, honoring heritage, and sparking new friendships beyond borders.”

The successful inaugural edition was made possible by a consortium of dedicated partners, including Old Doha Port as the Official Strategic Venue Partner, and many others who contributed to every facet of this world-class event. Polo AlMarsa Qatar 2025 has firmly established itself as a premier destination on the global sporting and cultural calendar, promising an even brighter future when it returns in 2026.
