Hussain Dawood, renowned Pakistan’s foremost business magnate, investor, educator and philanthropist, has commended Qatar’s leadership for prudent utilization of the country’s revenues, and earmarking some of it for the nation’s future.
Speaking exclusively to Editor of www.asiantelegraphqatar.com on the sidelines of the recently concluded 4th Qatar Economic Forum held from May 14 to 16, Dawood emphasized the forum’s ability to attract individuals interested in Qatar’s economic story, particularly in LNG sector, a robust sector that serves as a cornerstone of the country’s economy.
He lauded Qatar’s leadership, which, through its steadfast character, has effectively navigated various challenges.
Talking about the Pakistan-Qatar relationship, he said the two countries have deep and profound relations. He also underscored the need for Pakistan to adeptly engage with Qatar highlighting energy as Pakistan’s primary vulnerability and Qatar’s forte. While Qatar has exhibited openness, Pakistan, he noted, appears constrained by bureaucratic processes.
Dawood cited his company’s successful operation of its LNG facility in Pakistan with zero incidents for the past 7-8 years, receiving LNG through Q-Flex LNG
carrier from Qatar.
He suggested that Pakistan, being an ideal market for Qatar, could have leveraged its negotiating position to secure advantageous gas pricing had it understood the dynamics of the profound relationship.
As the chairman of several of Pakistan’s esteemed industrial entities, including Dawood Hercules and its subsidiary Engro Corporation, Dawood has
facilitated international investment in Pakistan, positioning his companies as preferred partners.
With a passion to fostering character-driven business leadership, he also spearheads initiatives such as the Karachi School of Business and Leadership.
Concluding his remarks, Dawood expressed hope for the emergence of impactful leaders within the society, poised to effect positive change.
